Australia And The British Empire
Out of Empire is part of a series of 13 episodes describing Australia’s relationship with Great Britain since 1901, the year Australia became a Federation. Themes covered include the decline of British imperial influence, changing attitudes to the monarchy and the call for an Australian republic. The series was created for television in the early 1990s by Australia’s state-owned and funded national public broadcaster, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, in conjunction with a mix of sources including universities, other education entities and individual contributors.
